Transfer Update - Kevin De Bruyne For £50million, Adebayor To Join Villa, Bale Going Nowhere & More

There are just 27 days left of the summer transfer window, and there's still plenty of business to be done.

Manchester United have lost two strikers in the form of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao but are yet to replace either - they've also got to bring in a replacement for PSG-bound Angel di Maria.

And their rivals Manchester City are also still active in the market. Manuel Pellegrini has also allowed two strikers to leave (Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko) without bringing in a replacement.

And City have been given hope in their pursuit of Kevin De Bruyne, but Wolfsburg won't let him go cheap.

We'll bring you all the latest updates on these deals plus all the other transfer news from the Premier League and beyond - so don't go anywhere!

Roberto Soldado has seen his potential move to Villarreal put on hold because of an “enormous” difference on price.

Misfit Soldado joined Tottenham for £26million two years ago, but has scored just SEVEN league goals (three of which were penalties) since.

But the 30-year-old Spain international has attracted interest from Villarreal, La Liga rivals Sevilla and Galatasaray of Turkey.

Villarreal believed they had a deal - but it has stalled because Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is determined to get a higher price.

Tottenham are resigned to taking a big financial hit on Soldado, but are determined not to sell him too cheaply.

Villarreal have not given up but are now offering a season-long loan with a fixed-price permanent deal next summer in an attempt to push the transfer through.

Bale: I'm going nowhere

Gareth Bale reminded Tottenham what they are missing - and then dashed Manchester United's hopes of signing him this summer.

United target Bale scored Madrid's second with a trademark strike in their 2-0 Audi Cup friendly win over his old club Spurs at the Allianz Arena.

Then the world's most expensive player, £85m Bale, outlined his determination to stay at the Bernabeu after new boss Rafa Benitez handed him the central role he craved.

Wales star Bale said: “I am optimistic about the season. I am confident anyway.

“It’s great to have the support of the manager and the president and hopefully I can repay them now with some goals and trophies."

Pochettino: Spurs need more strikers

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted Tottenham are going into the season short up front.

But he insists Harry Kane can cope if he ends up being the White Hart Lane club’s only senior striker for the start of the campaign.

Emmanuel Adebayor is set to join Aston Villa and Roberto Soldado is also likely to follow him out the exit door, which, as it stands, would leave Kane as Spurs’ only recognised frontman.

He said: “It is true we have Harry and maybe we need to bring another striker in.

“But I am not worried about Harry. He came back after the Euros (Under-21 Championships) late in his preparations but I am not worried. He is ready to compete on Saturday against Manchester United.”

Wolfsburg ARE ready to sell Manchester City target Kevin De Bruyne — but only for £50million.

City are increasingly confident they will land the forward after fresh signals from his German club.

The Bundesliga side insisted last week that they wouldn’t sell the Belgian after qualifying for the Champions League, with CEO Klaus Allofs claiming he was “unsellable”.

But their top brass have failed to persuade the 24-year-old to sign a new contract, with the former Chelsea player indicating he would love a return to the Premier League with City.

And now, Wolfsburg have made it known they will listen to offers, with their starting price at around £50m.
